Compatibility review
We confirm the domestic-line position, pipe size and material, valve condition, power, Wi-Fi, and installation space while excluding all fire-suppression piping.
Whole-home domestic-water shutoff installation • Licensed plumbing execution under RMP M-43057.
Houston-area installation
Inline flow-and-pressure monitoring with automatic shutoff control.
HydroSense scopes the exact installation after reviewing the home's domestic water line, power, Wi-Fi, valve layout, and separation from any fire-sprinkler or fire-suppression piping. Product features and manufacturer requirements are confirmed again in the written proposal.
Installation boundary
The home’s domestic water line is the standard HydroSense installation scope. HydroSense does not install leak detection, monitoring, or automatic shutoff control on fire-sprinkler or fire-suppression piping. Irrigation is optional and must be specifically requested, technically reviewed, and quoted in the written proposal. The proposal confirms the actual plumbing configuration and any equipment required; one shutoff device is not assumed to control both domestic water and irrigation.
How the system works
The Moen Flo Shutoff installs on the home's domestic potable-water line and monitors water activity through the manufacturer platform. Depending on device settings and conditions, it can alert the homeowner and close the valve automatically.
Installation-relevant details
Designed for installation on compatible potable-water service lines, including copper, PEX, and PVC
Requires standard 120V power and 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for setup, updates, app alerts, and remote control
The manufacturer says the device can continue local monitoring and store data during a Wi-Fi interruption, while real-time alerts and remote control require connectivity
Galvanized piping at or near the installation point requires evaluation and may need replacement or filtration before installation
Moen states that core device features and data do not require a monthly fee
Product capabilities, app services, and model specifications can change. The final proposal confirms the current manufacturer requirements and exact device model.
Insurance qualification
Some insurers may offer a credit or underwriting consideration for an approved automatic water shutoff, but the insurer decides which models, installation methods, and documents qualify under a specific policy.
Confirm the requirement with your agent before purchasing for a discount. HydroSense provides an itemized installation record and helps locate available manufacturer verification documents.

The device is installed, connected to the manufacturer app, tested for shutoff operation, and documented for the homeowner's records.
Some insurers may offer an incentive for an approved automatic water shutoff such as Flo by Moen, but eligibility varies by insurer, policy, model, installation, and documentation requirement. Confirm the requirement with your insurance agent before purchasing for a discount. HydroSense provides an installation record and helps locate manufacturer verification documents when available; neither the device nor the documentation guarantees a credit.
No. A HydroSense care plan is optional and is not required for the device's manufacturer-provided core functions. Moen states that core Flo device features and data are available without a monthly fee. Connectivity, app-account, and manufacturer-service requirements still apply.
