Plumbing configuration
We identify the domestic water line, pipe size and material, valve condition, working space, and pressure-reducing valve while excluding fire-sprinkler and fire-suppression piping.
Whole-home domestic-water shutoff installation • Licensed plumbing execution under RMP M-43057.
Device selection
The best device is the one that fits your plumbing, power, connectivity, valve layout, and protection goals. HydroSense verifies those conditions before issuing a written installation proposal.
HydroSense manages device selection, plumbing coordination, installation, setup, shutoff testing, and homeowner handoff in one complete service. Plumbing work is performed through a Texas-licensed plumbing partner under Responsible Master Plumber M-43057.
Installation boundary
The home’s domestic water line is the standard HydroSense installation scope. HydroSense does not install leak detection, monitoring, or automatic shutoff control on fire-sprinkler or fire-suppression piping. Irrigation is optional and must be specifically requested, technically reviewed, and quoted in the written proposal. The proposal confirms the actual plumbing configuration and any equipment required; one shutoff device is not assumed to control both domestic water and irrigation.
Side-by-side view
Product features and manufacturer requirements can change. The final proposal confirms the current model, compatibility, and installation conditions for your home.
| Device | Detection approach | Setup profile | Install type | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flo by Moen | Flow and pressure monitoring | 120V power + 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi | Inline on the potable main | Homes suited to an inline device where the owner wants whole-home domestic-water flow-and-pressure monitoring, app visibility, and automatic valve control. |
| Phyn PlusHydroSense Texas is listed in Phyn's Find a Phyn Pro Directory. | Pressure-wave analysis | 120V power + reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi | Inline on the domestic water supply | Homes suited to an inline device where the owner wants pressure-based whole-home domestic-water monitoring, plumbing insights, and automatic valve control. |
| StreamLabs Control | Ultrasonic flow measurement | Power + 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi + protected location | Inline on the domestic water entry line | Homes suited to an inline device where the owner wants ultrasonic flow measurement, configurable leak thresholds, and automatic valve control. |
| Guardian by Elexa | Point leak and temperature sensors | Compatible ball valve + planned sensor locations | Retrofit over an existing domestic-line valve | Homes with a compatible, accessible domestic-line quarter-turn ball valve where a sensor-based retrofit is preferable to cutting an inline device into the pipe. |

How we choose
We identify the domestic water line, pipe size and material, valve condition, working space, and pressure-reducing valve while excluding fire-sprinkler and fire-suppression piping.
Inline devices normally require nearby power and reliable 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. We verify outlet distance and signal where the device will actually be installed.
Inline systems analyze domestic-water activity. Retrofit systems use point sensors and a compatible domestic-line valve. Irrigation requires a separate, requested scope review.
Inline on the potable main
Inline flow-and-pressure monitoring with automatic shutoff control.
The Moen Flo Shutoff installs on the home's domestic potable-water line and monitors water activity through the manufacturer platform. Depending on device settings and conditions, it can alert the homeowner and close the valve automatically.

Pressure-wave analysis with whole-home domestic-water monitoring and automatic shutoff.
Phyn Plus installs on the domestic water supply after the primary shutoff and before downstream household branches. It uses pressure-based analysis through the manufacturer platform to identify water events, provide alerts, and control the integrated shutoff valve.

Ultrasonic flow measurement with configurable alerts and automatic shutoff.
StreamLabs Control installs inline on the domestic water entry line, uses ultrasonic measurement to monitor household flow, and controls an integrated shutoff valve through device settings and the StreamLabs app.

A sensor-based retrofit controller for compatible quarter-turn ball valves.
Guardian uses point leak detectors that communicate with a motorized controller mounted over an existing compatible quarter-turn valve on the domestic water line. When a detector senses water or a configured freezing condition, the controller can close that valve without cutting into the pipe.

Inline on the domestic main
Large-line flow monitoring and automatic shutoff for compatible domestic water systems.
FloLogic installs inline on the main domestic water supply, continuously monitors flow, and can automatically close its valve when configured leak conditions are detected. Where connectivity is configured, the FloLogic app adds remote oversight, alerts, and controls without replacing local system operation.
Review FloLogic installation detailsInsurance qualification
Some insurers may offer a credit or underwriting consideration for an approved automatic water shutoff, but eligibility varies by insurer, policy, model, installation, and documentation requirement.
Confirm the requirement with your insurance agent before buying a device for a discount. HydroSense provides an installation record and helps locate manufacturer verification documents when available. No device, installation, or document guarantees a premium credit.
